For the first time ever, TPC Sawgrass collaborated with the non-profit K9s For Warriors to build a float for the annual Veterans Day parade in downtown Jacksonville, FL. The partnership was spearheaded by TPC Sawgrass Food and Beverage Lead Steward Gary “Google” Edwards, who served in the U.S. Army as a cavalry scout while on deployment in Germany, and then in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee (United States Naval Construction Battalions.)

Edwards built the frame for the float, which was designed and decorated by TPC Sawgrass and K9s For Warriors volunteers to celebrate the service of veterans from all five branches of the military; generate awareness for K9s For Warriors, which provides service dogs to veterans with PTSD and TBI; and honor local K9s For Warriors recipients for their service to our country. Several K9s For Warriors recipients and their service canines walked alongside the red, white and blue float in the parade alongside volunteers, drawing cheers and applause from standers-by.
“We are very appreciative to Gary for his service to our country, his dedication to TPC Sawgrass, and his long-standing commitment to supporting fellow veterans,” said TPC Sawgrass Assistant General Manager Matt Borocz. “Gary’s drive and determination helped us further recognize the extraordinary efforts by K9s For Warriors to help veterans return to civilian life with dignity and independence through the Veterans Day float.”
