Birdies for the Brave will continue its support for members of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families by hosting a series of fundraising golf events this fall for the benefit of 10 military homefront charities. Fundraising began in May with the ninth annual Wounded Heroes Golf Clinic in Bluffton, SC, hosted by the Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes, with an event at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, GA, scheduled for August 9. Additional events will be held at TPCs and partner clubs across the U.S. through December.
Highlighting 2019 fundraising activities, TPC Sawgrass will continue its long-standing tradition of supporting our military by hosting the club’s annual Birdies for the Brave fundraising event presented by Milan Homes on Sunday, September 8, and Monday, September 9. Festivities will begin with a welcome reception on Sunday evening in TPC Sawgrass’ magnificent clubhouse, featuring live entertainment, an expansive silent auction, distinguished military speakers, a cocktail reception and dinner. A charity golf event will follow on Monday morning on the award-winning THE PLAYERS Stadium Course, including a variety of military-themed contests and wounded heroes, PGA TOUR players or local celebrities playing in each foursome. The golf outing will be kicked off by a military opening ceremony featuring the presentation of the colors by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, the singing of the national anthem and guest speakers.
As in the past, 100% of the net proceeds raised at TPC Sawgrass and other fundraising events will be donated to military homefront charities that are part of Birdies for the Brave, which provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded veterans and military families.
