Glenmorangie raises funds for military charities during three PGA TOUR tournaments

Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky teams up with Birdies for the Brave to raise funds for military families and wounded heroes during three PGA TOUR tournaments during the 2016 season.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky, part of the Moet Hennessy portfolio of brands, underscored its long-standing support for the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families by presenting Birdies for the Brave with a check for $50,000 in support of wounded heroes and military families.  The donation took place during a special ceremony on Saturday, August 20, in the Patriots’ Outpost presented by Glenmorangie, located on the No. 10 fairway at Sedgefield Country Club during the Wyndham Championship.

“We are thrilled to work in partnership with Birdies for the Brave to help honor and express our sincere gratitude to military members and their families,” said Moet Hennessy USA Military Manager Alan Thompson, who participated in the ceremony alongside Wyndham Championship Tournament Director Mark Brazil and Wyndham Championship Director of Development Terry Jones. “It’s the very least we can do for those who selflessly put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe and protect our freedom.”

The donation represented the culmination of fundraising that took place during the 2016 season at three PGA TOUR tournaments as part of the Birdies & Eagles Hole presented by Glenmorangie – including the Wyndham Championship, DEAN & DELUCA Invitational and Waste Management Phoenix Open. On Saturday and Sunday of tournament week at each event, Glenmorangie pledged to make a donation to Birdies for the Brave for every birdie and eagle made by PGA TOUR players on the designated military appreciation hole. In all, 127 birdies and six eagles were made by TOUR players at the three tournaments – including 76 birdies and six eagles at the Wyndham Championship.

Along with the Birdies & Eagles Hole, Glenmorangie helped to lead military appreciation activities during the Wyndham Championship – where more than 1,000 military guests enjoyed complimentary food and beverages while sharing camaraderie with other military members throughout the week in the Patriots’ Outpost. In addition, Glenmorangie hosted a sampling station on Saturday and Sunday inside the Patriots’ Outpost, enabling military guests to sample six different blends of Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky, including its oldest whisky, the Glenmorangie Signet. Distilled for more than 30 years, the Glenmorangie Signet has been voted the 2016 World Whisky of the Year.

This year marks Glenmorangie’s sixth year partnering with Birdies for the Brave to raise funds for military families, promote the game of golf, and provide Scotch sampling opportunities, beginning with its support for fundraising events at the TOUR’s TPC Network of clubs in 2011. Funds raised for Birdies for the Brave directly support 11 non-profit military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded heroes and their families, who sacrifice so much in service to our country.

In addition to raising funds at PGA TOUR tournaments, Glenmorangie will continue to show appreciation to our military while raising funds for Birdies for the Brave by hosting a series of scotch tastings and putting contests at military bases and installations across the country as part of its commitment to give back. For every putt made by military members, a donation will be made to Birdies for the Brave.
