Underscoring its long-standing support for our military, United Rentals, Inc. – the largest equipment rental company in the world and a PGA TOUR Official Marketing Partner as the “Official Equipment Rental Supplier of the PGA TOUR” – continues to express gratitude to those who proudly serve our country by conducting a variety of military-focused programs during select PGA TOUR tournaments in 2016.
Among the programs, United Rentals will sponsor Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost military-exclusive hospitality chalets at seven tournaments, providing guests with an opportunity to share camaraderie with other military members and enjoy complimentary food and beverages while watching all the tournament action with premium views. So far this year, more than 3,500 military guests have taken advantage of United Rentals’ hospitality by visiting the Outposts during the Northern Trust Open, World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship, World Golf Championships – Dell Match Play, and Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
In addition, the company is sponsoring the Birdies for the Brave Military Caddie Program at three tournaments in 2016, providing up to 20 active duty military members at each tournament with the unique opportunity to caddie for TOUR players on the designated military appreciation hole during the Pro-Am. The experience proved to be incredibly memorable for Chief Petty Officer Raymond Rizzo from NSA Lakehurst, one of the military members who participated in the program at the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship compliments of United Rentals.
“I am very grateful to United Rentals, the PGA TOUR and Birdies for the Brave for giving me the chance to experience what it’s like inside-the-ropes at a PGA TOUR tournament,” said Rizzo. “The Military Caddie Program gave us an excellent opportunity to be up close and personal with the golfers, and I personally enjoyed the questions they asked about our service and where we have been.”
United Rentals will also reinforce its commitment to provide jobs to returning combat veterans and veteran spouses by hosting a series of recruiting opportunities for military members at tournaments across the U.S. United Rentals recruiters will be on-site to interview prospective candidates, share resources for transitioning military members, and provide information about the company’s outstanding benefits and career opportunities, including the opportunity for veterans to participate in the company’s 10-week Service Technician Training Program. Upon graduation from the program, veterans will be offered a full-time position with United Rentals.
“We feel privileged to work in partnership with the PGA TOUR and Birdies for the Brave to not only show members of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice, but also offer tangible support by providing job opportunities with long-term career growth potential,” said Chris Cox, national sports and entertainment partnerships with United Rentals, Inc. “Military members possess the extraordinary critical thinking skills, discipline and leadership abilities most valued by employers, and we look forward to the opportunity to engage with and hire many of these military members and military family members using PGA TOUR tournaments as a recruiting platform.”
Named as an “employer of choice” for transitioning military members and veterans by Military Times and a G.I. Jobs Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers and Military Spouse Employers for 2016, United Rentals employs more than 13,000 people at more than 900 branches across the U.S. and Canada.
