TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola hosts 100th Callaway Warrior Club Fitting

ATLANTA, Ga. – As golfers fine-tuned their games at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club on the final practice day at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, PGA TOUR player and Callaway Staff Pro Harris English took some time out to help two wounded heroes work on their own golf swings, as part of the Callaway Warrior Club Fitting Program. Conducted in partnership with the TOUR’s Birdies for the Brave military outreach initiative, the program is designed to aid in the rehabilitation process and express appreciation for wounded veterans’ service and sacrifice by providing them with the opportunity to be fit with their own set of custom golf clubs during a PGA TOUR tournament. The fitting at East Lake was the 100th Callaway Warrior Club Fitting to be hosted since the program’s inception four years ago, and the 13th to be hosted in 2015.

Tempur-Pedic, Hunter Mahan join Deutsche Bank Championship in honoring military

NORTON, Mass – As U.S. military members around the world help Americans sleep more soundly by keeping our country safe and free, Tempur-Pedic® wants to make sure their efforts do not go unnoticed. During this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston, Tempur-Pedic has teamed up with PGA TOUR player Hunter Mahan and Birdies for the Brave to help bring awareness for #BeyondVeteransDay – a movement aimed at recognizing and showing gratitude to military veterans throughout the year, and not just on Veterans Day. Mahan, a long-time supporter of our military and a Birdies for the Brave TOUR player supporter, has been encouraging tournament fans all week to use the hashtag #BeyondVeteransDay to thank a veteran on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. For every 100 hashtags used, Tempur-Pedic will donate a mattress to a deserving veteran this year. So far, more than 10 mattresses have been donated this week.

Stryker teams with K9s for Warriors to honor veteran

EDISON, N.J. – On Friday morning at The Barclays, while the best golfers in the world competed for a place in the weekend pairings, a special ceremony took place in the Patriots’ Outpost near No. 9 tee. In a place as historic as Plainfield Country Club – it was the site of the 1777 Battle of Short Hills and is the only course in the nation that is on the National Register of Historic Places– it seems only fitting that The Barclays celebrates with members of the United States armed forces. Veterans and servicemen and women alike gathered for a special moment when Stryker presented a donation to the K9s for Warriors program, pledging to provide a K9 service dog for a Warrior.

Bubba Watson, senior military leaders highlight The Barclays Military Appreciation Ceremony

EDISON, N.J. – During this year’s 2015 The Barclays at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, NJ, PGA TOUR player Bubba Watson helped pay it forward by celebrating military members, veterans and their families during a military appreciation ceremony in their honor.

Watson, whose father was a Green Beret, spoke briefly, and was then the recipient of two special gifts. Command Sergeant Major Patrick Alston, the Senior Enlisted Leader for the United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, presented Watson with a beautiful crystal award on behalf of the Department of Defense in recognition for his long-standing support for our military – including serving as a TOUR player supporter of Birdies for the Brave homefront group the Green Beret Foundation.

On the heels of war, a healing opportunity during The Barclays

EDISON, N.J. – Golf is an extraordinary tool in helping wounded heroes heal from the physical injuries of war; but it can also be a powerful platform for helping the brave men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces heal from the emotional, cognitive and social trauma sustained during combat. Estimates are that up to 30% of veterans returning home from combat suffer from some form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) or depression, resulting in a startling and heart-breaking statistic: 22 veteran suicides every day.
