Player Profile – Bob Duval
The son of professional golfer Henry “Hap” Duval and father of PGA TOUR player David Duval, Bob Duval attended Florida State University on a golf scholarship and worked for many years as a head golf professional. At the urging of his son, he joined the Champions Tour (formerly Senior PGA Tour), where he had more than two dozen top-10 finishes, including a wire-to-wire win at the 1999 Emerald Coast Classic – which came on the same day David won THE PLAYERS Championship and ascended to the #1 ranking in the world.
Duval’s Support of K9’s For Warriors
Duval is privileged to support K9s for Warriors, a non-profit organization he founded with his wife, Shari, dedicated to raising awareness and funds to pair trained, donated companion dogs to our deserving American warriors who have suffered injuries due to conflict as a result of wars since 9/11. Through its training facility in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, K9s for Warriors helps to reduce injured service members’ reliance on others and return to civilian life with dignity and independence by pairing them with a service dog trained to perform tasks designed specifically for each individual.
Warriors live on-site at the training facility, where they train and become partnered with their new service friend. Canines can be trained to perform up to 70 tasks that most people take for granted each day, such as retrieving objects, opening doors, balance, pull their partner in a wheelchair and turn on light switches, just to name a few. In addition to those who have given limbs or have other physical disabilities resulting from their service to our country, service dogs are a proven recovery tool for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury.
